Former England footballer Jermaine Jenas received an early shower as he made his debut on Channel 4's UEFA Women's EURO 2017 coverage.

Ahead of last night's (July 27) match between England and Portugal, Jermaine was just starting to talk about how "momentum is key" when the sprinkler decided to give him a soaking live on air.

"It almost looked like it was directed right at you," joked host Clare Balding about the "rogue sprinkler".

And Jermaine received absolutely no sympathy on Twitter from viewers at home.

"Jermaine Jenas getting nailed by a sprinkler will be the best thing we will see for the next couple of hours," wrote one viewer, with another adding that it was "TV gold".

Poor Jermaine.

He can console himself with the fact that England won 2-1, progressing to the quarter finals of the competition as group winners.

We have a feeling Jermaine will be wearing a coat and carrying an umbrella if he is a pundit on that match, though.

Earlier this month, he took part in one of The Crystal Maze's celebrity specials alongside Rylan Clark-Neal, Joel Dommett, Adil Ray and Tamara Wall.

At least Jermaine had a better time on the show than his football coverage as the foggy bog proved no trouble for him, and his team earned six crystals in total, eventually walking away with £10,000 for Stand Up to Cancer.
