Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Accused of Mocking Palestinian Who Got Shot

A deputy mayor of Jerusalem, Arieh King, has been accused of mocking a Palestinian activist during a demonstration in the city’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, where protesters gathered against the planned evictions of several Palestinian families.

This footage, by Oren Ziv for +972 Magazine, shows the interaction between King and someone off camera, identified by +972 Magazine as Mohammed Abu Hummus.

According to translations by +972 Magazine and the Times of Israel, King, who is seen pointing to his forehead, told Abu Hummus that it was “too bad” he had not been shot in the head. Abu Hummus was reportedly shot by Israeli forces during a demonstration in Issawiya in February.
