Jessie Wallace got a serious case of the giggles on ITV's Lorraine today (September 20).

The EastEnders star completely lost it after the presenter suffered an awkward mishap live on TV.

During their interview, Lorraine Kelly was left red-faced when her earpiece popped out and flew across the studio.

Apologising to her guest as she picked the device up off the floor, the host said: "So sorry, that was me! [The producers] talk to me through this, they tell me things, so we have to pop that back in again.

"There we go, I'm so sorry. Honestly, that's live telly for you. Now, what were we talking about?"

As Lorraine tried to get the interview back on track, Jessie struggled to control her laughter, causing the presenter to start chuckling as well.

Eventually however, they were able to pick things up again and return to talking about the actress's play Deathtrap, which she stars in alongside fellow former EastEnders star Paul Bradley.

As her earpiece wasn't working properly, Lorraine mistakenly asked Jessie if she was happy to be reunited with Paul.

Looking a tad confused, the star hit back: "No, I've never worked with him before! He left EastEnders before I joined. We used to cross paths in the corridor because he was working on Holby City while I was filming but that's it. We only knew each other to say hello to."

Once again, clearly a tad embarrassed, Lorraine apologised.

"I'm sorry, I thought you two overlapped on the show," she explained. "It's this earpiece. It's not functioning properly!"

Moving on, Jessie began to open up about her time as Kat Slater in Albert Square.

The actress admitted she missed playing the fiery Walford legend and is regularly asked whether she is going to return to the show.

"I don't miss the show too much when I'm busy," Jessie explained. "But I do miss Kat. I miss getting the scripts. I used to get so many great one-liners.

"And of course I miss working with Shane [Richie]. We bonded straight away when we met. I miss my friends at EastEnders."

Lorraine is on ITV, weekdays at 8.30am.
