Jet2 has issued an urgent warning to passengers and holidaymakers who are jetting out of the UK. Jet2, which flies from Birmingham Airport in Birmingham and is rivalled by the likes of Easyjet and Ryanair, has had its say on its website.

Jet2 has warned of disruptions getting to airports. In a new update, the airline stated: "We'd just like to let you know that a Superbike Event will be taking place at Donington Park 27th - 29th September 2024. There will be traffic management in place across the weekend to ensure minimal disruption.

"Temporary traffic lights will be in place at Junction A453 and Melbourne Lane. Please allow enough time to travel to East Midlands Airport as all Jet2.com flights are still due to operate as scheduled." Jet2 stated: "We have been made aware of road works between Junction 23A and Junction 25 on the M1, one lane will be permanently closed on the Northbound and Southbound carriageways with a 50mph speed restriction in place. Delays are likely during peak hours. There will be sporadic closures of Junction 23A slip roads, between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00. There will be signed diversions."

And warning drivers in the North East, flying out of Newcastle Airport, the airline added: "We have been made aware of road works taking place on the A696 from 19th August until the 26th November. Diversion routes have been put in place. National Highways have confirmed that resurfacing work will be completed affecting the airport access roundabout.

"These works will take place from approximately 22:00 with the road reopening from 06:00 the following morning." It comes after Ryanair shared an update for those heading to Italy, as delays and cancellations are likely today.

Ryanair said: “Due to a ground handling strike affecting Venice Marco Polo (VCE), Olbia (OLB), Milan Malpensa (MXP), and Bologna (BLQ) airports on Tues 24 Sept, we have been forced to cancel a small number of flights to/from these airports and make schedule changes to a small number of others.

“Passengers affected by these cancellations/schedule changes have been notified of their options via email."
