Lionsgate has unleashed the terrifying first trailer for Jigsaw, AKA Saw 8.

The horror sequel sees bodies turning up with each having met a uniquely gruesome demise and all evidence points to one man: John Kramer, who has been dead for more than a decade.

Jigsaw's original title was Saw: Legacy and the first poster, sporting a picture of the iconic pig mask and the tagline 'Become Jigsaw', hinted that the sequel could be more to do with new recruits potentially taking on Jigsaw's mantle.

Tobin Bell has already confirmed that he will be appearing in Jigsaw but, unless there's a major retconning, it'll probably be in the form of tapes or audio recordings as Jigsaw died way back in Saw 3.

Last week, the first image was revealed from Jigsaw showing actress Laura Vandervoort drowning in dirt. Apparently though, it won't be quite as nasty as some of the previous movies.

"We've got some pretty wild traps in the film – we don't shy away from the gore. It's such a perfect Halloween scarefest. It's perhaps not quite as vicious and more fun," teased co-director Peter Spierig.

Peter made the movie with his brother Michael and the two have previously made Daybreakers and Predestination, both starring Ethan Hawke, and Jigsaw was written by Piranha 3D's Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger.

Jigsaw is released in cinemas on October 27.
