Jimmy Kimmel surprises cinema goers with Hollywood stars live during the Oscars
The 90th Oscars went off without any major scandal, which meant host Jimmy Kimmel was free to prank unsuspecting audiences.
The presenter decided to round-up some of the famous faces from the Oscars ceremony and take them into a theatre that was showing Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time.
Lupita Nyong’o, Margot Robbie, Lin Manuel Miranda, Gal Gadot, Mark Hamill, Emily Blunt, and Guillermo del Toro were just some of the Hollywood names that made the surprise appearance; as they preceded to hand out sweets to shocked-looking patrons who thought they were just there to watch a movie.
Suffice to say, people there were lost for words when A-listers appeared next to them to offer up treats.
‘I have an announcement to make,’ Jimmy said to the starstruck audience. ‘You are live on the Oscars right now.’
‘So we were talking about our appreciation for people who go to the movies and those are you people, so we wanted to say thank you to the moviegoers.’
The screams of joy were very loud and clear, as a whole host of film industry people (and, as Jimmy said, a few security guards) entered to give people sweets and hotdogs in their swanky tuxedos and designers dresses.
Not only that, but the Oscars host then put one lucky (or unlucky) member of the audience, Mike, on the spot by asking him to introduce Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph, who went down a storm by the way, as they came out to present one of the night’s awards at the live Oscars event itself.
But his pranks should come as no surprise, as last year he brought in a group of public by-passers to parade in front of the 2018 Oscar’s audience, that included Ryan Gosling, Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep, for some truly comical scenes and priceless reactions.
