Jimmy Kimmel's newborn son is 'eating, growing, and sleeping' following life-saving heart surgery
Earlier this month, our hearts went out to Jimmy Kimmel after the TV presenter wept on his show as he revealed that his newborn son had undergone life-saving heart surgery.
Jimmy has now updated us on baby William’s progress and said his little boy, who they call Billy, is doing “very well” following the operation to fix two heart defects just hours after his birth.
Speaking on his show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ on Monday night, the 48-year-old star said in his opening monologue: ‘Our son Billy is doing very well. He’s eating. He’s getting bigger. He’s sleeping well. He can read now, which they say is unusual.

The host welled up last week as he described his newborn son’s heart operation and made an emotional plea to US president Donald Trump and his government, asking them to ensure that every parent is able to access life saving surgery regardless of whether they are rich or poor.
Jimmy defended Obamacare and said he witnessed parents in hospital making the agonizing decision whether they could afford to save their baby’s life.
It’s lovely to hear that Billy is now resting at home after the surgery and is being watched by the couple’s two-year-old daughter Jane.
Posting a picture of his wife with their son and Jane, the star wrote: “sincere thanks for the outpouring of love & support – Dr. Jane is keeping a close ear on Billy, who is very well – XO’
