Jimmy Tarbuck opens up about living with cancer on Good Morning Britain as he shares update

TV icon Jimmy Tarbuck gave an update on his battle with prostate cancer and melanoma during his recent appearance on ITV's Good Morning Britain.

Presenter Susanna Reid asked how the entertainment star was doing following his diagnosis back in 2020.

Jimmy remarked gratefully: "They said a nice thing to me at the Marsden, I salute the Marsden and the NHS. They looked after me and they said,' Sit down, how are you feeling? ' I said I feel great."

The 84-year-old disclosed that the doctors told him that while he has cancer, he won't die from it but will die with it. He humorously responded: "I said, 'I'll buy that. Put me down for one of those please'."

During the show, co-presenter Ed Balls noted that Jimmy was still actively touring and scheduled to continue touring the UK until October.

Embracing his showbiz life, Jimmy replied: "I've been everywhere. I love the shows. Do I like being Jimmy Tarbuck? I love it. I love it when I'm up there, I don't like the driving to the gigs!"

Jimmy also shared an odd pact that he has with Sir Tom Jones regarding a quirky agreement they once made.

When Ed asked whether or not they'll perform at each other's funerals, Jimmy confirmed with a laugh that it would depend on who passes first.

He quipped: "I said, If I sing at yours, it won't be the same as you. You'll sing and they'll all throw knickers at you," reports the Mirror.

As for what might be thrown at him should he take the stage, Jimmy jested that instead of knickers, he might face beer bottles. Praising his friend, he added affectionately: "He's a great lad! ".

Before concluding their conversation, Jimmy couldn't resist sharing with Susanna the playful nickname his sons have given her.

Attempting to get her to guess by referring to a former co-host she often worked with on the ITV show, Susanna appeared confused and could not make the connection.

The big reveal came as he said: "You're him, in a wig. Piers Morgan in a wig."

The host seemed somewhat surprised by the remark, uncertain on how to interpret it until he reassured her that it was intended as a compliment.

She responded: "Oh ok, I'm glad you had to point out that it was a compliment because I'm not sure if it sounds like a compliment!"

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
