Jimmy Tarbuck says he will 'die with cancer' in fresh health update live on GMB
TV legend Jimmy Tarbuck provided an update on his health during an appearance on ITV's Good Morning Britain.
Susanna Reid enquired about his wellbeing following his prostate cancer diagnosis in 2020 and subsequent discovery of a melanoma.
Jimmy responded: "They said a nice thing to me at the Marsden, I salute the Marsden and the NHS. They looked after me and they said, 'Sit down, how are you feeling?' I said I feel great."
The 84-year-old comedian shared that doctors have told him he has cancer but it won't necessarily be the cause of his death; he'll die with it, not from it. To this, he humorously replied: "I said, 'I'll buy that. Put me down for one of those please'."
During the show, co-host Ed Balls mentioned that Jimmy is still touring and will continue to travel across the UK until October.
Jimmy expressed his love for performing as he commented: "I've been everywhere. I love the shows. Do I like being Jimmy Tarbuck? I love it. I love it when I'm up there, I don't like the driving to the gigs!"
In another part of the interview, Jimmy discussed an amusing agreement with singer Sir Tom Jones regarding their funerals, reports the Mirror.
Ed asked: "Are you going to sing at each other's funeral? " Jimmy confirmed, adding with a chuckle that it depends on who passes away first.
He replied: "I said, If I sing at yours, it won't be the same as you. You'll sing and they'll all throw knickers at you!"
When his friend asked what people would throw at him, Jimmy jested that it would likely be beer bottles, praising Tom by saying: "He's a great lad!"
Before concluding their conversation, Jimmy cheekily disclosed to Susanna what his sons call her.
The GMB host appeared baffled as she struggled to guess after her former ITV co-star was referenced.
Jimmy added: "You're him, in a wig. Piers Morgan in a wig!"
The presenter seemed a bit startled by the remark and uncertain of how to interpret it, until he assured her it was intended as flattery.
Grasping the context, she responded: "Oh okay, I'm glad you had to point out that it was a compliment because I'm not sure if it sounds like a compliment!"
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
