JK Rowling has announced the launch of a brand new resource for fans called Harry Potter at Home. As well as giving teachers an open license to read aloud all seven books to their classes virtually, and making the first Potter audiobook free for all, her announcement introduced the new Harry Potter at Home Hub.

Aimed at first-time readers but fun for all, the site is filled with activities like crosswords, puzzles, word searches, videos and guides. You can test your knowledge on a range of 'first year' quizzes, watch a craft video on how to draw a niffler, and check out a handy guide to reading Harry Potter for the first time.

Writing to fans, Rowling posted on Twitter: "Parents, teachers and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we’re on lockdown might need a bit of magic, so I’m delighted to launch http://harrypotterathome.com."

Whether this is how you introduce your little ones to Harry Potter for the first time, or your kids are already firm Potter fans, there's something for everyone. Even grown-ups are bound to enjoy the quizzes.

Promising to add to the site more as time goes on, JK Rowling's new initiative is a great reading aid and accompaniment to help keep your kids busy at this time. And one that can easily lead children from the screen to off-screen curled up with a book – always a bonus.

As the Hub says: "We’re casting a Banishing Charm on boredom!"
