JK Rowling has shared a snap from the British Library's Harry Potter exhibition – and she wants to play a guessing game...

Alongside the snap of a real-life gravestone, JK tweeted: "Guess what this is? I've just seen it and was mesmerised."

Any ideas?

Well, if you can't decipher the writing, Rowling cleared matters up, later tweeting: "It is indeed Nicolas Flamel's headstone, viewable at @britishlibrary's Harry Potter exhibition! Just had a sneak preview & it's wonderful."

Yep, the headstone belongs to Nicolas Flamel, the real-life French scribe and manuscript-seller – which is usually displayed at the Musée de Cluny in Paris but is currently in London at the British Library.

And, if you didn't already know, Nicolas Flamel was a real person who died in 1418. He gained a reputation as an alchemist after his death and was said to have discovered the Philosopher's Stone, according to legend.

Pottermore recently announced that Flamel – who was originally mentioned in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone – will appear in Fantastic Beasts 2, played by Brontis Jodorowsky.

Flamel is known in the Wizarding World as the person who discovered the Elixir of Life and co-created the Philosopher's Stone with Dumbledore.

The sequel has also added Wolf Roth as Spielman, Call the Midwife's Victoria Yeates as Bunty, Derek Riddell as Torquil Travers, Poppy Corby-Tuech as Rosier and Cornell S John as Arnold Guzman.

Fantastic Beasts 2 is released in cinemas on November 16, 2018.
