Jo Wood has been awarded compensation after she was kicked off an overbooked EasyJet flight and left stranded in Spain.
The model and ex-wife of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, 62, has won £747 after she was forced to pay £460 for last minute Ryanair flights back to London on Tuesday.
Following a Twitter rant about the budget airline, EasyJet have now refunded Wood’s Ryanair flights as well as £167 for her original flights and £120 for a taxi home from Gatwick.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Wood said: “They picked on the wrong woman didn’t they? Picked on the wrong woman, they did.
“They must have thought, “She won’t complain, she looks very sweet, she hasn’t got any luggage so we don’t have to drag her luggage off the flight, that’s fine, we’ll pick on that girl, Jo.” Little did they know.”
Wood and boyfriend Paul Scarborough, who were returning home from a romantic break in Murcia, were told that there was only a seat available for one of them when they went to board their plane on Tuesday.
The couple weren’t offered another flight that evening or the following day.
Wood posted a photo of herself in the Spanish airport to her 12.5k Twitter followers moments after it happened.
Making reference to the recent United Airlines incident, Wood wrote: “Thrown off of easy jet because they over book .. at least I wasn't dragged off @easyJet.”
She added: “Just read this in paper .. @easyJet so I'm not the only one to have my seat given away ...trying to get home !”
An EasyJet spokesperson said: “We were sorry to hear of Miss Wood’s experience and would like to sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.
“While there was one seat available, we understand that she wanted to fly with her travel companion. We have been in contact with Miss Wood directly to apologise.”
