Joanna Lumley to host ITV celebration of Black Eyed Peas' 20 year anniversary

The Black Eyed Peas will be the subject of a "one hour spectacular" ITV show that will be hosted by the group's friend, Joanna Lumley.

The broadcaster announced that the tribute will be both "a music special and portrait of one of the biggest groups in the world".

"One of the best-selling groups of all time, with a phenomenal 76m record sales, The Black Eyed Peas have won the love of the UK and the world," a statement from ITV reads.

"This year will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo celebrate 20 years at the top, and viewers are being invited along to chart their incredible journey. Joanna Lumley presents this very special one-hour spectacular to feature exclusive performances of some of the global super group's greatest hits."

ITV promises a "whole host of international celebrities" and music industry figures will appear on the programme to share their insights into how the Black Eyed Peas became such a phenomenal success.

The show will start with the band members' first meeting, following them through the release of their breakthrough album Elephunk and concluding with their upcoming Masters of the Sun tour around Europe.

will.i.am said: "I have my family, my Black Eyed Peas family and my Voice UK family. I've always felt at home in the UK, and, as a group, we continued to feel Big Love from our fans over here. We are excited to be sharing the backstory of our journey of success with you all."

Lumley added: "I'm both a friend to and a big fan of The Black Eyed Peas. It's very exciting to be a part of this and I'm looking forward to it enormously."

ITV has said the programme will air in late 2018.
