Fulham midfielder and Liverpool transfer target Joao Palhinha has been the subject of a €35million (£29.8m) offer. The Portugal international has been linked to an Anfield switch in recent months with Premier League rivals Arsenal also of interest, however the offer has arrived from abroad.

According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, Bayern Munich submitted an opening offer late last week that was rejected by the Cottagers. Bayern looked to have wrapped up the signing of Palhinha last summer however the deal fell through at the final hurdle with the Bavarians clearly intent on ensuring that does not happen again.

Talks are said to be ongoing with work being done to reach an agreement over the coming days. Palhinha and Bayern will be hoping that all is sorted before the start of the European championships with Portugal kicking off their campaign on Tuesday, June 18 against Czech Republic and Palhinha keen to impress.

"I don't know if it's a closed door or not, everything in football is very uncertain," he said recently on the topic of his future. "I can't say it's a closed or open door. I can't put myself in a position like that either.

"Today I want to focus more on the European Championships because that's the goal, to leave a good impression at the Euros, and then everything else will follow. People already know me."

"The fact that I'm in the Premier League means I'm in a very big shop window, probably the biggest of them all. The Euros is also a showcase that everyone is following all over the world." Despite keeping tight-lipped on where he could end up, the 28-year-old has already hinted at his desire to leave ahead of playing at Anfield earlier this year.

“I’ve always said that I feel the love that the supporters have for me,” he told Sky Sports before Liverpool beat Fulham 2-1 in the Carabao Cup "I know that someday I will leave Fulham. I want to give everything. I’m always 100 per cent professional here, and I will do my job every time that I play for Fulham.”

Liverpool's interest in Palhinha cooled over the January transfer window but it likely still remains. Numerous exit links to key players appears to be delaying any major moves being made for new signings though with Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Alisson and Trent Alexander-Arnold among those linked to be leaving.

With the future of two wingers uncertain, that is where the majority of links are arriving with Johan Bakayoko of PSV Eindhoven, West Ham United's Mohammed Kudus and Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville all of interest.
