Job at Merseyside firm 'like no other' who make world famous drink

You can apply for a job in Merseyside at a company behind a world famous drink. Vimto is a common sight in shops across the country and is available in still and fizzy form.

It was created in 1908 in Manchester by John Noel Nichols, who saw an opportunity to create a new soft drink in the wake of a growing temperance movement which encouraged people to stop drinking alcohol. The purple drink is made by Nichols PLC and its factory is now based in Newton-le-Willows. The founder's grandson, John Nichols, is a non-executive director at the company.

Now a job opportunity has opened based at the St Helens site. Nichols are on the lookout for a communication manager for Vimto on a permanent business, with a job advert posted this week claiming there is “no other business quite like ours”.

In this role, you will have to develop and deliver a clear communications strategy, including a clear framework and scope for external and internal communications. The role will lead the creation of the communications plan and will develop and implement internal and external communication strategies for the organisation to ensure that unified, consistent, and positive messages define and promote the corporate brand and purpose.

You will have to act as the corporate spokesperson and respond to members of the media in a timely manner, which will involve composing and distributing press releases and media statements as needed. The company is looking for someone with a university degree or equivalent experience in journalism, media, PR or communications. Candidates should also have a minimum of 5 years experience as a communications manager in a “fast moving PLC business”.
