We're already pretty sure that Jodie Whittaker is going to smash it as the new Doctor, but she's just made us even more confident that we're in for a treat.

The new Doctor Who star has teased that the new season – her first full one – will "blow audience's minds".

"How lucky am I to play this part?" Whittaker told Doctor Who Magazine (via Radio Times).

"There is no other job in the world like this, where you can see so many different worlds, meet such amazing characters and speak such extraordinary dialogue.

"When it's all put together in one series I hope it will blow the audience's minds as much as it blows mine when I read each new script."

She added: "It's never going to feel like [other jobs], because it's this job and it's amazing. It's a world away from any part I've played before."

Jodie will make her full-series debut later this year following her Christmas entrance.

Former Doctor Matt Smith has predicted that her performance will bring "heart, humour and soul" to the role.

"She's amazing," he said. "She has such heart, humour and soul, and I think that show works best when it's about big, bold casting and big, bold creative choices."

He added: "It's kind of about time, isn't it?"

Doctor Who is due to return on BBC One later this year.
