Joe Biden was called a “c**ksucker”, among other homophobic and racist slurs, as he grabbed an ice cream on Thursday afternoon (27 May).
Biden stopped off at an ice cream shop during a trip in Ohio to promote his progressive pitch to fix up the nation’s long faltering infrastructure.
But according to a White House press pool report, the president was met with a rather frosty reception at Honey Hut Ice Cream in Cleveland.
A “very angry person” began to lob insults at Biden, White House officials and members of the press as they walked back to their vans, the report said.
He screamed “f**k you, motherf***ers” and “c**ksuckers” at them.
“The angry person also repeatedly yelled slurs for Black and gay people at the press and White House staff,” the pool report added.
RawStory reported that the man was allegedly a supporter of former president Donald Trump.
The man’s outburst came as Republican senators were expected to vote down a bill that would create a bipartisan commission to investigate the deadly Capitol Riot.
Commenting on the move, Biden said at the ice cream hut: “I can’t imagine anyone voting against establishing a commission on the greatest assault since the Civil War on the Capitol.”
“But at any rate, I came for ice cream.”
This wasn’t the only time that day that Biden’s typically cool approach to unity showed signs of melting.
During a speech at the Cuyahoga Community College, Biden offered the press a real scoop as he tore into GOP lawmakers for touting the benefits of his party’s COVID-19 relief package, the American Rescue Plan, despite not actually voting for it.
“I’m not going to embarrass any one of them, but I have — here — a list of how back in their districts, they’re bragging about the Rescue Plan,” he joked.
“I mean, some people have no shame.”
