Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell received high praise for their performance on tonight's Strictly Come Dancing (October 20).

The pair danced the Waltz to 'The Rainbow Connection' by Sleeping At Last, which the judges described as "beautiful" and "absolutely gorgeous".

Darcey Bussell scored them a seven, telling Joe: "You are actually leading your lady, and that's exactly what you want to see a gentleman do. I was really impressed, you're becoming a real ballroom gentleman.

"They were creating, actually, a sweet romance out there."

Guest judge Alfonso Ribeiro – who was filling in for Bruno Tonioli – gushed: "I actually felt like it was a magical connection. There was a part in the middle where you had an innocent smile."

He awarded them an eight, which Shirley Ballas replicated. She said: "I thought it was just beautiful."

Craig Revel Horwood couldn't help making a dig, quipping: "I have to say a log had more expression." He gave them a six, but did add that "the movement around the floor was absolutely gorgeous".

Viewers seemed to agree, with tweets including: "Joe and Dianne have such lovely chemistry, watching them dance you actually believe them and the story they're telling," and: "Joe and Dianne's dance was beautiful."

It hasn't been the easiest of weeks for Dianne. It was confirmed yesterday that she'd split from her Emmerdale boyfriend Anthony Quinlan after 10 months together.

"Due to their busy schedules and distance they have split but still remain really close friends," her agent told Digital Spy.

With that in mind, we're sure she was pleased with her and Joe's total score of 29. Will it be enough to keep them safe on tomorrow's results show?

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One.
