Joe Swash will be skating with a new partner in this weekend’s Dancing On Ice as Alexandra Schauman has been struck down by injury.

The professional ice skater shared her disappointment at being ruled out of the live show, telling her Instagram followers she is “heartbroken” by the turn of events.

Alexandra will be temporarily replaced by Alex Murphy, who previously skated with Brian McFadden on the programme.

Alexandra wrote on Instagram: “I’m absolutely heartbroken to have to announce that I’m not able to perform with @realjoeswashy this Sunday due to an injury that I endured after a freak fall.

“I have missed skating with him terribly this week, he always puts such a big smile on my face.

“I wish him and @almurph18 who is stepping in all the best this upcoming Sunday, I will be there rooting for you and cheering you and everyone else on.

“I also want to give a huge shoutout to the whole DOI family and team who have given me so much love and support this week.”

It is unclear whether she will be fit to return next week.

Alex wished Alexandra a “speedy recovery”, writing on Instagram: “So grateful to be given the opportunity to choreograph and compete on @dancingonice again, just wish it was under happier circumstances.”

The news comes after it was revealed that Caprice Bourret will no longer be skating with Hamish Gaman.

During last Sunday’s show, it was revealed that the pair have “parted ways” and Caprice will be given a new partner.

While reasons for the switch have not been confirmed, an ITV insider has shut down claims the pair had “a big row.”
