Torchwood and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star John Barrowman is returning to Arrow season 8, which was supposed to be a secret but, oh well, it's out there now.

Star Stephen Amell leaked the news at a fan convention over the weekend, and now Barrowman has shared an Instagram post teasing his upcoming appearance too.

Alongside a picture of a chair with his name on it, Barrowman wrote: "So the beans were spilled in #boston love working with the team #arrow #malcolmmerlyn @stephenamell.

"#season8 #whathappens you will have to watch to find out. Trying to be soo vague #fabulous jb."

Now, Barrowman's character Malcolm Merlyn died all the way back in season 5. Does that mean that Merlyn is coming back to life, will he be playing an alternate universe version of the character, or could it be a flashback? All three aren't alien to the Arrowverse.

Then again, he did make a little cameo in the 'Elseworlds' crossover playing a policeman so maybe he's just popping up as a postman or a fast-food worker or something.

Either way, you can never have too much Barrowman in your life.

As well as hosting This Morning a couple of times, he also played Captain Jack Harkness becoming The Doctor in a recent Doctor Who Big Finish drama.

Arrow airs on The CW in the US, and on Sky One and NOW TV in the UK.
