John Boyega has given an impassioned speech at the Black Lives Matter protest in Hyde Park, London, telling demonstrators gathered to demand justice over the deaths of George Floyd and other victims of racist violence that they were there to ensure safety and an opportunity to flourish 'won’t be an alien thought to our young ones'.

'We are a physical representation of our support for George Floyd,' said the actor and Londoner. 'We are a physical representation of our support for Sandra Bland. We are a physical representation of our support for Trayvon Martin. We are a physical representation of our support for Stephen Lawrence.'

Addressing to the crowd in Hyde Park, Boyega went on: 'I’m speaking to you from my heart. Look, I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but f*ck that.

'Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process, we don’t know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don’t know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we’re going to make sure that won’t be an alien thought to our young ones.'

Boyega has been vocal in his support of the protestors and in calling out racism, as he did on an Instagram Live video last week.

'A black man was just murdered in cold blood in the street Stateside again, while saying that he can’t breathe,' Boyega said. 'That’s a continuous cycle going on – although I don’t live in the States, I’m black. F*ck that. I’ll say it again, f*ck you racist white people. I said what I said.'
