Star Wars actor John Boyega has shared a video that documented the moment he told his parents that he purchased them a house.

While the Finn star revealed he bought his mother and father a house several years ago, he's now posted the footage of the heartwarming moment.

Boyega, 27, employed some sneaky tactics to unveil his present as he took his parents, Abigail and Samson, to the house under the guise they'd be conducting an interview there only to divulge that it was in fact now their home.

The video shows the couple overcome with emotion as Boyega told them the truth at the London location, as he captioned the post: "Moments like these make all the hard work worth it."

He said: "On behalf of myself I’d like to say thank you for everything that you’ve done and I decided to do a secret project for a few months, and I’m here to tell you that there was no interview, that was a lie, this is your house that I am presenting to you.

"This is your new house, it belongs to you."

His father could clearly not quite believe what he was hearing as he asked: "Is it true?"

Samson was reassured by his children that the house was for him and his wife before the actor continued: "It’s your prayers that has got this. Because the skill and the ability that I have received has been from your prayers."

He then thanked his parents for "everything [they] have done".

Boyega was raised by his parents on a council estate in Peckham, South London.

His Star Wars co-star Daisy Ridley came under fire recently for comparing her background to Boyega's.

Ridley, who attended boarding school, denied that privilege had helped her to navigate her career.
