Rumours have been doing the rounds for quite some time that veteran Brit actor and former Monty Pythoner John Cleese would be appearing in Justice League.

The rumours started when he followed Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck on Twitter and intensified a couple of days ago when he posted this photo of himself.

In it you can clearly see three graphic novels -

- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns

- Justice League: Origin

- Batman Noir: Black Mirror

Now a "source" over at The Sun has apparently confirmed he's in it, and claimed that Cleese will have a "significant" part.

Now we don't really like reporting on 'sources said' stories but on this occasion it does seem pretty likely.

Either that, or Cleese is a massive, massive troll.

The selection of books he (clearly deliberately) included has prompted Twitter followers to speculate about who he might be.

Mayor Hamilton Hill? Wintergreen? An orderly at Arkham Asylum?

Who knows - though the current rumour mill suggests he'll appear in Justice League but have a more major role in Ben Affleck's Batman movie.

We'll update once it's official, but keep your eyes on @johncleese for more blatant trollery.

Justice League opens in UK cinemas on November 17. Batman is expected to be released in 2018.
