Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck has been released from hospital after collapsing on the pitch during Tuesday night’s win at Reading.

The Scotland international fell to the ground unchallenged during the second half of the Championship fixture at the Select Car Leasing Stadium and received around 10 minutes of medical treatment before being helped to his feet with the use of an oxygen mask.

Fleck was transported by ambulance to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, where Blades boss Slavisa Jokanovic confirmed after the game that he was conscious and talking to doctors.

The 30-year-old spent the night under observation and underwent “comprehensive medical examinations”, according to Sheffield United, before being discharged on Wednesday.

Fleck will now travel back to Sheffield.

“United and John Fleck would like to thank all who assisted at a stressful time last night and also everyone for their supportive messages,” Sheffield United said in a statement.
