John Legend pays touching tribute to Manchester terrorist attack victim Olivia Campbell

It has been one week since 22 people lost their lives and countless others were left seriously injured when suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated a homemade nail bomb near one of the exits at Manchester Arena following an Ariana Grande concert.

Now American singer John Legend has paid touching tribute to 15-year-old Olivia Campbell, who tragically died in the attack.

John said that he was ‘moved’ by Olivia’s rendition of his song.

Olivia’s mum Charlotte and stepdad Paul appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier today to talk about their beloved daughter, previously revealing that the teen was a huge John Legend fan and that they even hoped to get her rendition of the star’s hit single ‘All Of Me’ into the charts as a charity record for the victims of last week’s attack.

Surprising the couple with a video message, John sung Olivia’s praises as he revealed that he’d seen the video of Olivia’s performance and had been left “moved” by her talent.

Paying poignant tribute to Olivia, John shared: “Hello Paul and Charlotte, this is John Legend. I can’t imagine the pain you’re going through. I have a young daughter and I can’t imagine the feeling you must be going through right now to have to bury your own daughter.

“I understand that she was a fan of my music and she sang my song All Of Me at a talent show, and that you played it at her memorial service.

“I want to thank you for playing the song and let you know that I was so moved by your daughter’s performance of the song that I want to send you as much love as I can send you from far away, and as much sympathy and condolences as I can send you.

“I know it won’t make up for the loss you’re feeling right now, but any love we can send you we want to send you right now and wish you all the best. Take care.”

John’s bighearted gesture comes just one day after we revealed that One Direction star Harry Styles had taken the time to phone a hospitalised victim of the attack after hearing that she is a huge fan of his.

Freya Lewis, 14, has had to undergo multiple gruelling surgeries since being injured by the bomb that also took her best friend Nell Jones’ life, and was left in shock when Harry phoned her in hospital just five days after her older sister Georgia launched a social media campaign to get the singer’s attention.

Keeping her followers updated, Georgia broke the exciting news on Saturday night, writing: “Cannot believe it, Mr Harry Styles just rang my dad. Hearing his voice has been a great lift and Freya has totally woken up and is completely in shock that he rang.

“They told each other that she loved him!!! [sic] Thank you everyone for everything!!! I love you all!!!!

“Everyone is jumping for joy in the PICU unit. I’m so happy right now, I have no words. Reluctantly, I will admit it, I love you Harry!!!!!!!! [sic]”.

Ariana will return to Manchester in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Ariana Grande has revealed that she plans to return to Manchester in the coming weeks to put on a benefit concert for those affected by the attack.

The 23-year-old star was left “in hysterics” and “traumatised” after her fans and their loved ones were targeted by the terrorist but she is said to be focusing on her fans and hopes to spend some time with those caught up in the attack when she returns to the city.
