John Lewis Rape: Police Release Suspect E-fit

Police investigating the rape of a young woman in a John Lewis car park have released an e-fit of the alleged attacker.

Greater Manchester Police have appealed for anyone who recognises the man in the image, or who may have seen a man who fits his description around the time of the attack, to come forward.

The suspect is accused of pulling a woman in her late 20s from her car at the far end of the John Lewis car park in Cheadle, Stockport.

He dragged her into nearby bushes and raped her.

The man then ran off into the undergrowth in the direction of Wilmslow Road.

The victim visited a sexual assault referral centre after the attack, before reporting it to police on Sunday.

He is described as an Asian man, approximately 40-years-old, medium build, with black hair, heavily pockmarked and open-pored skin on his face, with a thick black monobrow, and wearing black jogging bottoms.

Detective Inspector Roger Edwards from GMP’s Stockport division said: "News of this attack has understandably shocked the local community and our officers have been speaking to the community over the past couple of days to try and identify the man responsible.

"We are offering all the support we can to the young lady who suffered this traumatic ordeal, and she has now been able to provide us with an e-fit of her attacker.

"You may think your information is trivial, but it could be vital to our investigation, so please call us and tell us what you know."

Anyone with any information has been asked to contact police at Stockport on 0161 856 9770 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
