John Nettles is set to revisit Midsomer Murders in a documentary celebrating the cosy crime drama's 25 years on screen.
As the original star of the show, Nettles played DCI Tom Barnaby from 1997 to 2011, before handing over the reins to Neil Dudgeon who plays his character's cousin and detective replacement DCI John Barnaby.
Now, fans will be pleased to welcome him back to reminisce on the ITV show's history and greatest moments for its 25th anniversary.
When is Midsomer Murders - 25 Years of Mayhem on TV?
The documentary celebrating one of the nation's favourite crime dramas is set to air on Sunday at 7pm on ITV.
What is Midsomer Murders - 25 Years of Mayhem?
Midsomer Murders - 25 Years of Mayhem looks at England's prettiest fictional county which also boasts the highest murder rate since it became the setting for the TV adaptation of Caroline Graham's Chief Inspector Barnaby books in 1997.
As well as catching up with Nettles and Dudgeon on their show highlights, it will go behind the scenes of filming for the latest series 23 and look back at some of the programme's most memorable locations on a Midsomer coach tour.
The show's stars past and present, including former guest star Tamzin Outhwaite, will look at what makes the wildly unrealistic show, known for dramatic and theatrical deaths and disaster that plagues a huge proportion of Midsomer residents, so perennially popular with viewers.
Executive producer Mark Robinson said: "So much has changed on British television in the last 25 years – but Midsomer Murders has remained a constant throughout.
"It’s testament to the high regard the viewers have for this series - a television institution with enduring appeal and a loyal fan base who love its eccentric take on the classic whodunnit. It’s been a privilege to hear about its journey from those who have brought it to our screens."
Who will star in Midsomer Murders - 25 Years of Mayhem?
Cast and crew taking part alongside Nettles and Dudgeon will include Nick Hendrix (Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter, 2016-2022), Annette Badland (Dr Fleur Perkins, pathologist, 2018-2022), Daniel Casey (DS Gavin Troy, 1997-2003), Jason Hughes (DS Ben Jones, 2005-2013), Jane Wymark (Joyce Barnaby, 1997-2011), Jeff Povey (writer, 2016-2022), Ian Strachan (producer, 1999-2022), Tamzin Outhwaite (guest star ‘The Lions of Causton’, 2018), Manjinder Virk (Dr Kam Karimore, pathologist 2016-2017) and Fiona Dolman (Sarah Barnaby, 2011-2022).
