John Torode got more than he bargained for when a helicopter landed beside him during his live cooking segment for This Morning.

As the Masterchef judge cooked up a plate of crab linguine live from Chesil Beach in Dorset, the aircraft appeared as if out of nowhere.

As the segment continued, the chopper moved closer and closer to Torode's spot.

His carefully prepared plate of food was blown away due to the force, leaving viewers in hysterics as the helicopter landed nearby.

Attempting to remain professional and nonchalant, John continued to cook, despite studio presenters Davina McCall, 51, and Rochelle Humes, 30, joking about the mishap.

The women in the studio burst into laughter as a gust of wind, caused by the approaching chopper, forcibly blew the contents of the table away while the crew struggled to hold on to their gear.

Adding to the humour, the camera panned back to the main subject, Torode of course, showing the TV star desperately holding on tight to his boiling hot pot pasta.

"I'll carry on," John insisted.

And Davina admitted: "You can't make this up."

Viewers at home enjoyed the chaotic scenes and rushed to Twitter to heap praise on John for trying to remain composed.

One tweeted: “When you get photobombed by a helicopter live on TV but carry on regardless”.

Another joked: “Best bit of tv in a long while @thismorning @JohnTorode #alegend”.

"I love it when live TV goes wrong! That was so funny! @JohnTorode1 you are a true professional," one viewer shared.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30 on ITV.
