Johnny Depp Criticised By Amber Heard Over Divorce Settlement $7 Million

Amber Heard has criticised Jonny Depp for giving her divorce settlement money directly to charity arguing that he should have paid double considering the charitable tax deductions.

The actor was supposedly going to give his $7 million (£5.3m) in one lump sum to Amber, however, has since announced he is paying in direct instalments to the charity, avoiding paying extra in tax.

Amber’s team now say that in light of the tax deductions Jonny should be paying more and also should make his payment in full.

A member of Amber’s team told Mirror Online: “If Johnny wishes to change the settlement agreement, we must insist that he honour the full amount by donating $14M to charity, which after accounting for his tax deduction, is equal to his $7M payment obligation to Amber.

"We would also insist that the full amount be paid immediately and not drawn out over many years.

"Anything less would be a transparent attempt by Johnny’s counsel, Laura Wasser and Patti Glaser, to reduce their client’s true payment by half under the guise of newfound concern for charities that he has never previously supported.”

A rep for Johnny told the site: “Following Amber Heard’s announcement that her divorce settlement was to be divided equally and gifted to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union, two exceptionally deserving and important charities, Johnny Depp has sent the first of multiple installments of those monies to each charity in the name of Amber Heard, which when completed will honor the full amount of Ms. Heard’s pledge.

"Ms Heard’s generosity in giving to these wonderful causes is deeply respected.”

Last week Amber revealed in a statement that she would be giving the settlement, in full, to charity saying that money played ‘no role’ in her decision to go to court.
