Johnson and Biden set to sign post-Covid Atlantic Charter

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and US President Joe Biden are meeting ahead of the G7 Summit and are expected to sign on a new ‘Atlantic Charter’. The charter is modelled after the 1941 joint statement signed by Prime Minister Winston Churchill and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The original aim of the agreement was to set out their goals post World War II, including promoting democracy, free trade and increasing opportunities for others. The 2021 version of the charter will still echo same values but will also focus on some new issues, including building back the world better from Covid, stopping climate change, and dealing with threats posed by cyber-attacks.
