A Gloucestershire village jokester has been “passive aggressively” calling out what they see as the failings of a housing developer's "shoddy workmanship" as residents have had to play “dog poo Jenga” due to full bins. The unknown jokester, who goes by the name of Jokesbury, a nod to the Borough Council’s name, has been posting fake notices around the Cleevelands Estate in Bishop's Cleeve.

Jokesbury, who is assumed to be a resident of the estate, has highlighted what they believe to be poor handling of the estate by developer Persimmon Homes. The first notice was posted on what residents describe as a “pointless fence” on a children’s play park in Sapphire Road.

Another issue that Jokesbury has drawn attention to is dog poo bins which seem to have been ignored for collection. And most recently they have taken aim at a new play park on the estate which residents are unsure whether it is open or not.

"The residents of the Cleevelands Estate in Bishop's Cleeve have been entertained recently by a resident jokester who has been passive aggressively calling out the failings of Persimmon Homes,” one resident said.

"The jokester calling themselves Jokesbury, who is assumed to be a resident of the estate, seems to have had enough with the shoddy workmanship and handling of the estate by Persimmon and has been posting fake notices around the estate highlighting the issues.

"This first notice was posted on a rather pointless piece of fencing on a children’s play park on Sapphire road. Residents have long complained about the fact the park was not fully fenced in, despite being on the main road of the estate.

"A near miss earlier in the year, where a child was nearly hit by a car after running into the road, seemed to have kicked Persimmon into action and a rather large and cumbersome gate was erected. But to residents' amusement on the other side of the gate a simple wooden plank was erected - making the gate rather pointless.

"Jokesbury has responded highlighting this issue. Next on Jokesbury’s radar seems to have been the dog poo bins that have seeming been ignored for collection.

"And finally today they seem to have taken aim at the new play park on the estate. It is still unknown to residents if the play park has actually been signed off and open - the builders fencing cornering it off was removed a few weeks ago.

"However the state of the park has made residents question how such a thing could happen. It looks and feels incredibly unfinished. The ground has the smoothness of the surface of the moon, the raised aspects have been made out of builders rubble so stone, metal and piping have been found protruding. It’s an accident waiting to happen.

"Residents feel this level of passive aggression should be applauded. I would like more people in the area to know about the humour and also the residents' plight.

“With a recent planning application for a new housing development just north of this site, its our hope that Persimmon actually finishes with Cleevelands (more than seven years in the making) before starting another. For the residents of the Cleevelands estate, not all heroes wear capes - ours has great IT skills and a laminator."

A spokesperson for Persimmon Homes say they are sorry to hear residents are unhappy with their development. They encourage people to get in touch with their dedicated customer care team with their issues.

"We are always sorry to learn of any unhappy residents on our developments," a spokesperson said. “The play area on our Cleevelands development is regularly checked and maintained by an appointed management company to ensure a high standard of safety and general upkeep. Bins on the development are also collected on a weekly basis by this management company.

"We encourage any residents who have complaints or feedback to get in touch with our dedicated customer care team, who are able to assist with any matters relating to their properties and the wider development."
