BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay was taken aback on Tuesday morning during his chat with former Great British Bake Off presenter Sandi Toksvig. In the midst of their conversation, Jon recalled a recent radio interview where the 66 year old discussed her use of a chainsaw.

Sandi humorously warned: "Don't mess with me, darling. Do not mess with me!" which sent both Jon and co-presenter Sally Nugent into peals of laughter, with Jon replying: "I wouldn't dare anyway."

Proclaiming herself 'that feisty old lady', Sandi went on to share that after being quoted £500 for chainsaw work, she decided to handle it herself. She confessed: "I thought, it can't be that difficult. Boys can do it, so surely I can do it. I got myself a chainsaw and I love it."

Her enthusiasm for the chainsaw was clear as she expressed: "I mean I love it in a slightly worrying way. I think it's marvellous." Sally was intrigued about what necessitated such a formidable tool, and Sandi explained she was managing an ancient woodland plagued by holly, as reported by the Express, reports the Mirror.

Sandi spoke of the joy in clearing the woodland, saying: "It's choking with holly and holly can grow to the size of a large tree trunk. We're clearing it and when you watch the sunlight come down onto the forest floor for the first time in over 100 years, it's fantastic."

Sandi proudly shared their achievements in increasing the native bluebell population, stating: "Honestly, it makes you feel thrilled. It's one of the best things that I do."

Addressing Sandi's enthusiasm for her garden work, Jon playfully suggested she might get too enthusiastic with the chainsaw, but she reassured him: "No, no. I promise you there is a plan!"

These exchanges follow Jon's disbelief earlier this week on Monday (September 16), when he was astounded to discover people would splurge up to £640 on luxury advent calendars, exclaiming: "I can't believe this! I cannot believe this, people saying they pay £40 even just seems an extraordinary amount of money."

Sally couldn't resist teasing him about his shock, commenting: "Jon can barely look! Look at Jon's face!" while Jon joked back: "I just told Sally I'll make her one just like you used to make in the old days."
