Comedian Jon Richardson has agreed to a huge divorce payout to his former wife just five months after their split. The pair announced the end of their nine-year marriage earlier this year, leaving fans shell-shocked.

Fellow comic Lucy Beaumont and Jon were a huge hit with their mockumentary show, Meet The Richardsons, over the last few years. The pair also recently left fans giggling with their appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox.

But now it has been revealed Lucy received a whopping £1.625million. Over the years, the couple had amassed a fortune of £6million, reports the Mirror.

Just two months after they drew a line under their marriage, Jon handed over the cash to Lucy for her shares in a company in which they were both listed as directors.

Jon, 41, also had to pay HMRC a further £8,125 in stamp duty after buying Lucy's stake in the company This Guy at Night Limited.

The business is still worth a grand sum of £4million, according to documents filed at Companies House. And despite their split, both Jon and Lucy, 40, are still the joint owners of a detached home in Yorkshire, complete with a swimming pool, worth £1million.

They are also the joint owners of a plush flat in North London, worth £1million. The former couple, who tied the knot in April 2015, share a daughter who was born in 2016. But despite their seemingly happy romance from the outside, the couple announced in April this year that they were splitting up.

In a statement, the former couple said: "After 9 years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.

"As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment."

Lucy and Jon started dating over 10 years ago after meeting one another through mutual friend Roisin Conaty before their bond blossomed into a romantic relationship.

Meet The Richardsons premiered in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in late February, 2020, on Dave and has enjoyed a thorough success with viewers as both comedians star as fictionalised versions of themselves discussing their day-to-day in a mockumentary format.
