Channel 4 newsreader Jon Snow becomes father again aged 73

Jon Snow has become a father again at the age of 73.

The Channel 4 newsreader revealed he and his wife Dr Precious Lunga, 46, welcomed a baby boy via a surrogate on 2 March after many years of struggling to have a child.

Snow said in a statement: "In our desire to seal our now 11 years of marriage with a baby, my wife suffered numerous medical setbacks and miscarriages.

"Consequently, we will always be deeply grateful to our surrogate, who carried our embryo to term.

"Amid these challenging times, we feel doubly blessed to be able to celebrate our good fortune."

The journalist married the Zimbabwean academic, who is 27 years his junior, in 2010.

Speaking about the age gap previously he said: "She’s somewhere in her 40s. She’s very, very mature. I mean, she’s a serious boffin."

Snow has two older daughters from his first marriage to former partner, human rights lawyer Madeleine Colvin, 64.

He is best known as the anchorman of Channel 4 News, for whom he has worked since 1989, and is also the cousin of TV presenter Peter Snow, 82.

Snow got his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine in January and took along the Channel 4 news cameras to the vaccination centre to report on the efficiency of the vaccination roll-out.
