Jonnie Irwin clarifies return hopes after reuniting with A Place In The Sun co-star

A Place In The Sun's Jonnie Irwin has shared a sweet reunion photo with co-star Jasmine Harman during a rare public appearance amid his cancer battle.

The Channel 4 presenter has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, but was hailed an "inspiration" last week after joining Harman on stage at a convention.

He has now addressed speculation that this marks a 'comeback' for him, expressing hopes of another appearance in the future.

In the photo, Irwin can be seen in a flat cap and grey jacket as he beams a smile next to Harman, who is in a bright fuschia pink dress.

The pair look in good spirits as they stand in front of the convention booth for A Place In The Sun.

He wrote: "Last week I got to team up with my mate again at @aplaceinthesunofficial Live. It was the busiest for years but some reason the papers are talking about it as a comeback for me.

"Just to confirm @aplaceinthesunofficial are a separate company running the website and affiliated business and have supported me continuously though-out which I’m eternally grateful for. Here’s looking forward to the next one!"

Harman and Irwin have worked together for more than 20 years. However, Irwin is currently not appearing on the Channel 4 series after discovering his cancer had spread to his brain.

While expressing a desire to continue working, the channel was unable to secure insurance for international filming in his condition.

"Much loved by everyone on the production, no stone was left unturned in trying to enable Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during COVID but the production company was unable to secure adequate insurance cover for him," production firm Freeform said.

"Whilst we were unable to continue to film abroad with him, we’re delighted that he was able to remain as part of our team in the UK for exhibitions. We of course understand how frustrating this must be for him at this incredibly difficult time."

The TV star, 49, told fans last year that he had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and was determined to make the most of any time he had left with his wife Jess and their three sons: Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.

He was initially diagnosed in 2020, but kept it a secret from the public eye to begin with.

As part of his treatment, he is undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which the British Hyperbaric Association says "increases the amount of oxygen available to the body’s tissues".
