Jordanians light candles during boycott of Israel gas deal

Jordanians on Saturday (June 5) answered calls on social media to boycott a gas deal with Israel by "pulling the plug" and creating a blackout in support of Palestinians. Footage showed families in Amman lighting candles during the one-hour protest. Activists urged Jordanians to switch off all electricity from 10 pm to 11 pm local time. Israel began pumping natural gas to Jordan in 2020 - a move that sparked protests in the kingdom by supporters of Palestinians.
