Yahoo News Joss Whedon reveals why Marvel is so great to work for
When the Russo Brothers, Jon Favreau, Taika Waititi and Ryan Coogler all want to work for you, then you must be doing something right.
Marvel Studios have employed some of cinema's greatest directors over the past decade - and now Joss Whedon has explained why filmmakers enjoy working with them so much.
"Something Marvel does that is brilliant and it applies to all of us is that, nobody here necessarily had the resume to make the next big action film," said Whedon during a bonus interview that will be included in the digital release of Avengers: Infinity War.
Whedon directed the first two Avengers movies for Marvel (The Avengers & Avengers: Age Of Ultron) and is a big fan of the amount of creative control he was allowed on the projects.
"They were interested in having that person speak they weren't interested in saying, 'Look just do, just hit the marks.' They wanted each one of us to bring ourselves to the movie and you can tell, as much as there's a throughline in Marvel, you can definitely tell who's who and what they constantly want to talk about."
Marvel has felt the wrath of the industry recently, after they fired Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn.
The 52-year-old filmmaker was given the sack after far right groups dug up offensive tweets, some from as far back as 10 years ago.
Gunn's dedicated cast members rallied around the director, declaring their support for his reinstatement by Disney.

In a message shared on social media and signed by Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff and Michael Rooker, the cast pledged their loyalty to James Gunn, adding that his story is "not over".
However, Disney has reportedly confirmed Gunn will not be reinstated, although Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may still use the script he wrote.
