Joss Whedon Would Write For Doctor Who... But There’s A Catch

It looks as though Joss Whedon would be up for writing ‘Doctor Who’.

There’s just one condition…

Appearing at San Diego Comic Con, the 52-year-old former Marvel director revealed that he’s not sure about writing an episode of ‘Doctor Who’… but all that might change if The Doctor was a woman.

“Check back with me when the Doctor is a she…” he said (via Digital Spy). “Or Idris Elba – every question can just have the suffix: ‘Or Idris Elba’.”

But Whedon admits the whole thing would be a daunting prospect.

“I’d have to do a lot of research,” he said. “Like, watch forty years of television. I’ve seen some of it but… let’s get real. It would be very daunting to follow in the footsteps of Moffat and the guys.”

Of course, Whedon isn’t the only big-name director to be interested in the ‘Doctor Who’ TV series… with Peter Jackson also desperate to tackle the iconic Time Lord. And rumours that suggest he might just get the chance.

Unfortunately, it looks as though Joss Whedon won’t jump in the TARDIS anytime soon.

But a female Doctor? That’s something many fans have been dying to see.

And with a female Master already on the show in the form of Michelle Gomez, it could provide some very interesting chemistry. Still, for now we have Peter Capaldi, who returns as The Doctor for the upcoming Christmas Special in 2016.

And we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Time Lord next.
