Thought matching ensembles ended with your best friend at primary school? Think again.

In recent months A-listers have resurrected coordinating ensembles, with an added touch of 2018 coolness.

In June, Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox arrived at a Chanel dinner wearing complementing monochrome looks.

In September Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid took bestie dressing to new levels at Paris Fashion Week when they went out for a night on the town in contrasting dresses in similar tangerine hues.

But, none quite compare to the twinning red carpet appearance Julia Roberts just made with her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, at the InStyle 2018 awards.

The pair took it further than simply matching hues, in fact, this sartorial statement took some serious planning.

The stylish women wore identical ensembles head-to-toe, donning matching lavender suits, designed by none other than Meghan Markle's wedding dress designer, Clarie Waight Keller, from Givenchy's latest Spring/Summer 2019 collection.

Their power suits were paired with pastel purple shirts, again by Givenchy, and matching platform Cxfords.

But that wasn't all.

If you're going to go to the effort of matching your outfit with your friend you might as well go all out, right?

"We went for it," Stewart, who also styles Cate Blanchett, Viola Davis, Gal Gadot and Amanda Seyfried, told InStyle, proving that their matching minimal make-up and blow dries were also no accident.

In fact, as the duo posed hand-in-hand on the red carpet it was easy to see that every last detail synced up, from their white nail polish to bold framed glasses.

And, just like any good twin pair, they carried the same handbag in different hues, just so people could tell them apart.

Roberts told InStyle that the matching looks at the event were her idea, stating: "We were just talking about what we were going to wear. It's not often we get to go to something together. And I said, you know, because we do look alike, I said, 'What if we wore, like, a similar outfit? Let's wear the same thing."
