Julia Roberts won't be back for season 2 of Amazon's Homecoming
The second season of Amazon's psychological drama Homecoming has lost actress Julia Roberts.
In the debut season – which premiered during 2018 and comprised of 10 episodes – Roberts played Heidi Bergman, a caseworker at Homecoming Transitional Support Center, which acts as a specialised live-in facility for ex-soldiers.
It was previously reported that Roberts only signed up for one season, but just what's stopped her from being reeled back in?

Revealing to The Hollywood Reporter his plans for the sophomore entry, showrunner Sam Esmail explained: "We've deviated from very much of the podcast, so [season two of] the podcast doesn't really have anything to do with the way the show is going. We're working on a second season, but we have a very different trajectory for our show.
"I think when I signed on, I had only listened to the first six episodes of the podcast, which is the first season, and then from there we deviated completely. The show starts out fairly close to the podcast, and in the back half of the season we really start to see the major shifts and differences from the podcast."
It's no spoiler to say that Heidi's ultimate quest was put to bed in a vague manner during the first season, so her departure from the show isn't exactly going to cause any earthquakes.
Plus, it's not completely over for the Pretty Woman star as she'll actually be sticking around with the show behind the scenes, continuing on as executive producer.
Meanwhile, for those uninitiated in Esmail's mind-bending world, the critics gave Homecoming a universal thumbs up.
