Julie Andrews offers uplifting coronavirus message

Dame Julie Andrews has provided an uplifting message to the billions of people across the world that are quarantining in the wake of the coronavirus.

The legendary actress, who won an Academy Award for her movie debut as Mary Poppins back in 1964, opened up to Good Morning America about the response to the pandemic, declaring, “There’s just so much out there at the moment and people being so wonderful and bonding.”

The 84-year-old even went as far as to say that it reminded her of the spirit during the Second World War.

“This is so much, to me, World War II in a way. I’m very much reminded of that because I was around at that time, believe it or not. And the sense of unity that it provides and the way people do bond and get together is just phenomenal.”

Andrews then offered her own advice and uplifting message to everyone the world over.

“I send my fondest love to everyone. Stay safe. Follow the rules. Be compassionate and kind if you can, which… I think everybody is. Keep in touch, reach out. Find the way you can reach out, which is what I’m doing as much as possible.”

The Sound of Music star, who also received a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her performance in the musical, as well as for her turn in 1983’s Victor/Victoria, also provided a breakdown of what she and her family have been upto during the quarantine.

“We’re being very good and absorbing all the rules,” insisted Andrews, before she then admitted that they’re coping by eating plenty of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, as well as drinking a bevy of cups of tea. Obviously.
