Juninho Bacuna nears transfer exit after Birmingham City accept bid

Birmingham City have accepted a bid from Turkish side Sivasspor for midfielder Juninho Bacuna, BirminghamLive understands.

Bacuna has been given permission to hold talks with Sivasspor over the weekend and complete his transfer away St Andrew’s. The 26-year-old will therefore be omitted from Blues’ travelling party to Austria.

Curacao international Bacuna joined Blues from Rangers in January 2022 and made 111 appearances in his two-and-half-years in B9. He scored nine of his 13 goals for the club during the 2023/24 campaign as Blues suffered relegation from the Championship.

Blues have already sold Alex Pritchard to Sivasspor this summer and have now struck another deal with the side that finished seventh in the Super Lig last term.

New Blues boss Chris Davies has several options in the areas Bacuna operates and added Swedish winger Emil Hansson to his ranks on Friday. Hansson is one of four signings Blues have made in preparation for League One.

Bacuna will become the 13th senior member of last season’s squad to depart following Pritchard, six out-of-contract players and five loanees.
