A new Jurassic World film has been announced – and it'll arrive this weekend.

Director Colin Trevorrow revealed the news on his Twitter page. The project – a short film titled Battle at Big Rock – stars André Holland and Natalie Martinez.

Trevorrow returns to the director's chair after handing over the reins to JA Bayona for Fallen Kingdom in 2017.

Battle at Big Rock was written by by Emily Carmichael, whose recent credits include Pacific Rim: Uprising.

The only hint of what to expect in the short, which will air in the US this Sunday, is the inclusion of a quote spoken by Jeff Goldblum's character Dr Ian Malcolm in Fallen Kingdom: “These creatures were here before us. And if we’re not careful, they’ll be here after.”

Battle at Big Rock will debut in the US on FX on Sunday 15 September. It's unclear if the film will be broadcast in the UK.

Trevorrow will also direct Jurassic World 3, which is set to be released in 2021. Bayona will next oversee Amazon's high-profile Lord of the Rings series.
