Jurgen Klopp may have helped Liverpool sign Chelsea starlet Rio Ngumoha as they close in on an impressive deal.

The Reds believe they've done enough to sign the 15-year-old this summer - and anger Chelsea decision-makers in the process. Ngumoha plays on the left wing and has already trained with the first team at Stamford Bridge and made nine appearances for the Under-18s.

Liverpool are yet to make any new signings this summer as Arne Slot prepares for his first season as the club's head coach. Slot will be assessing his squad across pre-season, where it's then expected decisions will be made over the future of players and potential new signings.

However, it seems Liverpool are close to signing Ngumoha from Chelsea this summer. A report from the Daily Mail has provided insight into the impact that Klopp, who left his role as manager earlier this summer, may have had on the deal.

It has been reported that Ngumoha has decided to join Liverpool after being motivated by the pathway on offer for young players at the club. The report points to the Reds' victory over Chelsea in last season's Carabao Cup final, which saw several of Liverpool's academy stars take centre stage at Wembley Stadium, as a key reason for wanting to sign for the Reds.

Klopp handed opportunities to Jayden Danns, Bobby Clark and James McConnell at Wembley, while Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley were regularly part of the first-team squad last term. Klopp's faith in the club's young stars may be a reason why Ngumoha believes a move to Anfield is the best next step in his career.

Liverpool have moved to sign some of English football's most promising talents in recent years. As well as Clark, Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, Trey Nyoni, Calum Scanlon and Amara Niallo have all signed for the Reds in recent seasons, while 16-year-old talent Alvin Ayman is set to sign from Wolves.
