Justin Bieber Admits He's Got Few Friends

Justin Bieber has said he counts few people as close friends - despite his millions of fans around the world.

The singer has a global fan base, nicknamed "Beliebers", and more than 27 million followers on Twitter.

And earlier this year he was named by Forbes Magazine as the third most powerful celebrity in the world.

But in spite of all this, the 18-year-old superstar told Oprah Winfrey: "I really don't have a lot of friends.

"I have like three close friends that I'll fly out to see me or that I'll chat with, or, you know, call, but that's really the truth."

The Canadian went on to say that life can get lonely because he is only human.

He explained: "I get days where I'm just down and, you know, gloomy."

In the interview, Winfrey also asked Bieber whether it is true that he wants to be married by the age of 25.

"I think so, yeah," he said. "Re-think that will ya?" responded Winfrey, who went on to tell him that 25 is too young.

Bieber then agreed to reconsider, telling her: "You are Oprah and you're telling me to not get married at 25. I should probably listen to you."

Bieber's introspective interview follows his success at the American Music Awards last Sunday, where he won three prizes including artist of the year.

The Justin Bieber episode of Oprah's Next Chapter is being shown in the US on Sunday and in the UK on DMAX - channel 144 for Sky customers - at 9pm on Monday.
