Justin Bieber says child fame left him suicidal and 'abusing heavy drugs'

Justin Bieber has opened up about the struggles he’s faced since becoming a global star at 13, revealing it left him suicidal and abusing ‘heavy drugs’.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the singer admitted that he struggled to cope with the fame as a teenager, and that he “made every bad decision” by the age of 20.

Bieber began the post: “It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning with the right attitude when you are overwhelmed with your life, your past, job, responsibilities, emotions, your family, finances, your relationships.

"When it feels like there’s trouble after trouble after trouble. You start foreseeing the day through lenses of “dread” and anticipate another bad day."

Revealing that he had suicidal thoughts, he added: “Sometimes it can even get to the point where you don’t even want to live anymore. I am fortunate to have people I’m life that continue encourage me to keep going."

The singer went on to say that he resorted to taking drugs in his late teens, as he tried to come to terms with his fame.

"I started doing pretty heavy drugs at 19 and abused all of my relationships. I became resentful, disrespectful to women, and angry.

"I became distant to everyone who loved me, and I was hiding behind, a shell of a person that I had become. I felt like I could never turn it around.

"It's taken me years to bounce back from all these terrible decisions, fix broken relationships, and change relationship habits. Luckily God blessed me with extraordinary people who love me for me."

Bieber finished the post by adding that he is now “navigating the best season” of his life after marrying Hailey Baldwin last year.
