Things are still frosty between Willow and Justin, but Willow is determined to move on and make things work with Dean. However, she has another, more pressing problem at hand – her rent is late. Alf promptly reminds her and she promises to have it to him soon.

Justin is overjoyed to receive an invitation to Ava's birthday party in the mail – a positive sign that Nina is starting to come around. Justin calls Nina to RSVP to Ava's party and is shellshocked to discover that Ava sent Justin the invitation without Nina's consent. Nina un-invites Justin, much to his chagrin. Tori, who overhears, questions whether Justin ever told Nina about his break-up with Willow. Curious, Justin demands to know what the hell she's hiding and Tori hesitantly reveals the true reason that Willow broke it off with him.

Having learned the truth about their break-up, Justin confronts Willow. Justin is frustrated that Willow didn't just tell him the truth at the time, when maybe they could have fixed things. Willow disagrees, because no matter what happens, Justin has to put his daughter first.

Justin packs his bags to head to the city and confront Nina. Tori and Ash talk him down and Ash suggests that Justin should get a lawyer to help him acquire access.

After her encounter with Justin, Willow is compelled to gamble – and big. She bets $200, despite needing to pay rent, and loses it all. Desperate to make ends meet, Willow steals money out of the till in the Surf Club when she thinks no-one is watching, but Jasmine clocks the exchange and catches her red-handed.

Meanwhile, Tori confides in Justin about how she's stuffed things up with Ash. Justin points out that the problem is that Tori and Ash are trying to move on from the past without actually dealing with what happened. Tori and Ash discuss their trust issues – there's a lot of baggage between them. After having time to reflect, Tori and Ash reconvene – they both don't want to give up on each other just because it is hard. They passionately kiss.

Elsewhere, John takes Ty to the surf club. John is checking in on Ryder, who begins his first day of work at the juice bar. Ty asks if he can stay at the surf club with Ryder while John continues his errands. Ryder experiments with smoothie recipes, coming up with his own out-there creations and uses Ty as his taste tester. As the boys banter and hang out, Ryder complains about Coco and asks Ty for dating advice.

Feeling out of his depth, Ty confesses that he hasn't had a girlfriend before. Raffy texts Ty throughout the day but he doesn't reply. Raffy turns up at the surf club later, explaining that they could have had a chance to be alone together at the house, if he wasn't so preoccupied hanging out with Ryder instead. Raffy leaves, feeling let down, and Ryder encourages Ty to go and make it up to her. Ty apologises to Raffy and shares with her how amazing it is to have a mate like Ryder – he's never felt like this before. But could Ty's feelings for Ryder be something more than friendship?
