Justin Lee Collins Fined For Speeding On M5

Justin Lee Collins has been hit with a £327 bill for speeding on a motorway in his Mini Cooper.

The comedian, 38, pleaded guilty to driving the car at 76mph in a 50mph limit zone on the M5 motorway.

Collins, of Shad Thames, Bermondsey, London, was caught speeding between junction 16 Almondsbury and junction 17 Cribbs Causeway.

He had been due to go on trial at Bath Magistrates' Court in Somerset, but did not attend as he pleaded guilty by post.

The TV presenter, who had no points on his licence, must pay out £327 for the offence, which happened at 11.12pm on September 28 last year.

Chairman of magistrates Peter Norris said: "For this offence we take into account the guilty plea.

"There will be a £266 fine, a £26 victim surcharge and £35 in costs with six penalty points."

The court was told Collins initially pleaded not guilty to the offence, but then changed his plea to guilty.

Collins was asked to provide a statement of means, but did not, the court was told.

The comedian, who appeared in The Friday Night Project, was convicted of harassing ex-partner Anna Larke at St Albans Crown Court in October last year.
