Justin Rose is synonymous with the The Open after bursting onto the golf scene in the 1998 Championship at Royal Birkdale with a fourth placed finish as an amateur.
It took the former world No1 until last year at Carnoustie to better that finish as he placed in a tie for second behind Francesco Molinari.
The 2013 US Open champion has been getting some practice rounds in at Royal Portrush as opposed to playing the traditional warm-up event, the Scottish Open.
Rose posted a video on Instagram of himself walking the course in torrential rain before sharing a Guinness with home favourite and 2011 Champion Golfer, Darren Clarke. The Englishman contended at last month's US Open but faded over the week as Gary Woodland went on to win his first Major title, though Rose took confidence from his tie for third at Pebble Beach.
