Justin Timberlake breaks social media silence after drink-driving charge

Justin Timberlake has made a return to social media after being caught drinking and driving.

Earlier this month, the Sexy Back singer was arrested in the Hamptons in the US, following a traffic incident and charged with one count of driving while intoxicated (DWI). It is reported that the pop star told the arresting officer that the situation would ruin his upcoming concert dates.

But it seems that this isn't the case, as Justin has posted a series of Instagram stories as he kicked off the New York leg of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

The first clip shows a smiling Justin posing with a t-shirt for his tour in blue and orange - the same colours as the New York Knicks basketball team. Posted ahead of his performance, the singer can be heard saying "this is so important right now. Catch those Knicks colours".

What follows is a series of shared snaps and videos of Justin as he danced and sang on the centre stage, with a full room of fans clearly seen dancing and singing along. There were even a few famous faces in attendance, including film director Martin Scorsese, who was snapped standing and stoically enjoying the evening.

On June 18, Justin was pulled over by police while driving in Sag Harbour after authorities witnessed him running a stop sign, TMZ reports. Referring to the official police report, the website adds that authorities noticed the singer failed to stay in his lane, before they pulled him over at an intersection.

On Saturday, June 22, Justin broke his silence on the incident on the first night of his tour in Chicago, telling the audience that it had been a "tough week", according to the American publication.

He said: “We’ve been together through ups and downs and lefts and rights, and it’s been a tough week, but you’re here, and I’m here and nothing can change this moment right now."
